What is the Joepye Chess Club?
Who we are.
"We" are (is?) me, Joe Riegsecker. I'm a long-time (weak) chess player, a sometimes chess teacher (for beginners only), an enthusiastic tournament organizer, and a US Chess-certified Senior Tournament Director. The Joepye Chess Club is my US Chess affiliate under which I sponsor and rate tournaments.
What we do.
Chess stuff! I run several chess clubs in the local schools. I do classes at the local library. I organize tournaments, both rated and unrated. I also direct tournaments orgainzed by other people. I'm especially active with the Scholastic Chess of Indiana organization, taking entries and directing the state championships.
Where we do what we do.
Mostly I am active in my home town of Goshen, Indiana, the Maple City. The Goshen Public Library allows me use of their meeting rooms for tournaments. I'm the chess club sponsor at the Goshen Junior High School and the Goshen Intermediate School. Scholastic Chess of Indiana events take me all over the state.
Our next event is...
We usually have something scheduled. The scholastic chess season is finished locally, but we do have a library event coming up.
