Scholastic Chess of Indiana | 2024 SCI Individual Finals | SCI Girls Championship

US Chess Information for SCI Individual Finals tournament.

Every player at the Finals needs a valid US Chess number. How you get that depends on the section you are playing in. Please read the following carefully. If at any time you feel you need some help, please email me at joepye@pobox.com.

For students in the Third & Under, First & Under, and Girls Primary sections

If you have ever played in a rated tournament, including previous SCI Individual or Team Finals, you already have a number. Please go to the Regional results page and see if there is an 8-digit number beside your name. If there is, that is your US Chess number. If there is not, but you still think you may have a US Chess number, go to https://new.uschess.org/player-search and search for your name. The site is slow, so be patient. If you find a record that matches, use that number. If you don't seem to have a number already, I can get you a free number. Just go to http://sci.joepye.net/JTP.htm and follow directions. Please be patient. It may take several hours before I get back to you. Do not go to the US Chess website and try to get your own free number. You may get a number but it will not be valid. Do not complete your registration before I get your number to you! Patience, grasshopper.

For all other sections

Players in all other sections must have a paid US Chess membership. If you find you have a number, the next step is to determine if it is valid. Again, go back to https://new.uschess.org/player-search and find your record. On the far right, Under Exp Date, if there is no date or a date earlier than 2024-01-31, you will need to buy a US Chess membership. Of course, if you have no number at all you will also have to buy a US Chess membership. For most of you (everybody under 18) the cost will be $20. For those 18 or older, the cost will be $27. If you need to buy a membership, you have two alternatives. First, you may go directly to https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess and purchase your membership there. If you already have a US Chess number, say you are renewing and use your old US Chess number. An alternative is to go to http://sci.joepye.net/USCFSCI.htm. I think you will find this page simpler (and $1 cheaper) than the US Chess page, but you may have to wait a bit for your number. However you do it, please make sure you have a valid US Chess membership before completing your registration for Finals!

If at any time you run into problems, please contact me at joepye@pobox.com.

Once you have a valid US Chess number, you may return to http://sci.joepye.net/24SCIIndFinals.htm and finish your registration.
